Every new home needs to be christened!

So in 1973 after living in rentals for all my life (in 1973 that was all of 13 years for me) my folks had a great opportunity to purchase a single family home in Somerville Massachusetts. Thanks Dad! But Wish You Were Here Instead

The envelope waited solemnly on the table outside the front door. Inside waited a post-mortem gift of Love from Dad.

The letter inside was expected, but the emotions that came with reading it were hard to predict. I knew there was a pending ‘wrongful death’ settlement on the way. But how would I react once receiving it? I tried hard not to think about it during day-to-day life events. After all, how could a son look forward to money that was to arrive only because his father died prematurely? You can’t experience that pendulum of emotions unless you find yourself in a similar situation.

Well the letter, with its associated check, finally arrived. With it came myriad emotions.
